‘Doctor Who’ Becomes Animated Series

May 27, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

We’re down to only three more on-screen appearances by David Tennant as the tenth Doctor.   And while the last three specials aren’t scheduled to air until later this year, fans can get a fix of the tenth Doctor in the fall when the BBC’s red button service will air the animated “Doctor Who” story, “Dreamland.”  The series will be seven episodes long and similar to last year’s “The Infinite Quest.”

Each episode will run about six minutes and star Tennant as the voice of the Doctor.  He’ll be joined by actress Georgia Moffett, Lisa Bowerman and David Warner according to the Den of Geek.

The story is by Phil Ford, the co-writer of the upcoming “The Waters of Mars” with Russell T. Davies.  Ford has also written scripts for “The Sarah Jane Adventures” and “Torchwood.”

And in a related “Doctor Who” story, Russell T. Davies is hinting that the tenth Doctor could guest star in an upcoming segement of “The Sarah Jane Adventures.”

A Fourth ‘Mad Max’ Developing – As A 3-D Anime Feature

March 5, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

'Mad Max'MTV has some news about a possible fourth Mad Max film….animated?  This one I’ll have to see to believe.

Good ol’ Mad Max: post-apocalyptic gun-slinger with a need for blood-thirsty revenge! MTV News’ #4 Movie Badass of All Time! And…star of a 3-D anime feature film?!

Unlikely as that last one sounds, some big screen animated “Max” action is shaping up to become a reality, according to George Miller, the writer/director of the previous three films. The catch? He doesn’t want Max himself, Mel Gibson, anywhere near the project.

“We’ll probably go a different route,” Miller told MTV News about the potential talent voicing the lead role. The plot would be partly lifted from the script of the fourth “Max” film, which was set to shoot in 2003 until financing collapsed in the wake of the Iraq War.

Now Miller is resurrecting the idea as an R-rated, stereoscopic anime flick for theatrical release. It’s a curious undertaking, to be sure, but one made all the more certain to happen after the runaway success in 2006 of his computer-animated “Happy Feet”—not that the newest, ever-violent “Max” film will have much in common with that kid-friendly penguin party. Official Trailer: Monsters vs. Aliens from Dreamworks Animation

November 4, 2008 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

Dreamworks AnimationDreamworks Animation has released the official trailer for Monsters vs. Aliens I had an opportunity to see ten minutes of this film in 3D before Comic-Con, and while I’m not entirely sold on the characters, I will tell you that the 3D in this film is the best I’ve ever seen in a computer animated feature. It’s the first movie to be completely developed for 3D, instead of just converted to 3D in a post production process. Its something that needs to be experienced to be believed. Check out the trailer below, and tell me what you think in the comments. Read more

These CG animated shorts are from the fine folks at Blur Studio, the animators responsible for the cut scenes in Marvel Ultimate Alliance. This is very cool stuff so check it out. There might even be guest appearance by another superhero in the third video.
