VHS Is Now Officially and Completely Dead

VHS is Dead! The last of the somewhat big distributor of VHS films has shipped the beloved (and hated) tape for the last time.

Ryan J. Kugler, co-owner of Distribution Video Audio, Palm Harbor, Florida said “It’s dead, this is it, this is the last Christmas, without a doubt.”

However, VHS had an amazing run and I’m sure it is a testament to the fact that DVD will also be here for many years. When a format becomes as main stream as DVD and VHS it takes some time to kill them completely off.

Steven Seagal Battles Zombie-Vampires In ‘Against The Dark’

December 18, 2008 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

Against The Dark starring Steven SeagalOk, I’m going to have to watch this one on principle. Steven Seagal with a sword, fighting (carving) vampire-like creatures in a world ala I am Legend…this is just too good to be true…

Katana master Tao (Steven Seagal) leads a special ops squad of ex-military vigilantes on a massacre mission, their target: vampires. On the post-apocalyptic globe, sucked dry by bloodthirsty vampires, a few remaining survivors are trapped in an infected hospital. Tao is their only hope and he knows the only cure is execution. Now it’s time for the last stand against the flesh-eating vampires and there’s nothing left to lose but the last of humanity.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced Against the Dark which stars Steven Seagal, Tanoai Reed, and Keith David. The action-horror will be available to own from the 10th February, 2009 and should retail at around $24.96. The film itself will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. The only extra material will be a Fighting the Shadows: Behind the Scenes of Against the Dark featurette. Read more

Anime Review – Bleach DVD Vol 6

October 8, 2008 by tcgames · 1 Comment

Bleach Vol 6Josh over at animecorporation.com has a review up on Bleach Vol 6…

Covering episodes 21 through 24, this Bleach DVD release is hard to pass up. Ichigo and his quirky group of schoolmates-turned-dimension traveling super-power warriors have made it into the Soul Society to rescue their death-sentenced friend Rukia Kuchiki. Wait, did I say warriors; these high schoolers have a long way to go before they can save anyone. Honestly, I didn’t mean to rip off that line from Avatar. Back on topic!

Ichigo Kurosaki is joined by Yasutora Sado (Chad), Orihime Inoue, Ury? Ishida, and Yoruichi Shihouin. The headstrong attack first ask questions later Ichigo is offset by Chad, the typical quiet and secluded yet “I’ll kill you if you hurt my best friend” 6?6? high schooler. Orihime is the scatterbrained but lovable girl with mysterious healing powers; she’ll do anything for Ichigo, but is often cast aside for Rukia, reducing Orihime’s purpose to a pleasant large-breasted companion. Ishida has no binding connections to any of his schoolmates or Rukia, yet agrees to join the rescue simply to subside his uppity hatred for Shinigami (Soul Reapers or Death Gods). Yoruichi leads this pack as a transforming cat, her past kept discreet.

In an idiotic attempt to quickly and literally run into Seireitei, the center of Soul Society and the home of nobles and Shinigami, Ichigo triggers an alarm, bringing down a gigantic protective wall and the Gate Keeper Jidanb?. After quickly defeating Jidanb? with his newfound fighting experience, Ichigo again blindly stumbles into a bad spot, Gin Ichimaru, Captain of Squad 3. Lucky to retain their lives, Ichigo and his friends retreat; Yoruichi has foreseen this obstacle and leads them to an acquaintance who can help break them into Seireitei, by blowing them through with a cannon of course! They better hurry though, Rukia’s execution date has just been moved up, only 14 days left! Read more
