The Einstein Sound Master Photon Ball iPod Dock – Wow!
July 1, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

If you’re on the lookout for a dock, this one definitely has a little bit of that mad scientist appeal that would definitely keep life interesting. The colors within the ball on it will actually move about along with the beat of the music. Which would give a cool lighting effect while you’re listening to your favorite songs. While you’re becoming entranced with the shining bright lights, your iPod gets to sit on the dock and charge up.
Not only can it charge and be played through the dock, but you can also hook it up to your computer to have it synced with your computer. The dock also has a clock on it, which has an alarm that allows for you to wake up to the music directly from your iPod. If you’ve had enough of your iPod, you can switch modes and listen to the AM/FM radio instead.
It actually claims that it will work with any iPod, that can hook up to a dock, so yours should work with this. You can purchase it for $34.99.
Mili Pro Projector Turns Your iPhone Into 40 inch TV

Any iPhone can play video, but that little 3.5 inch screen just isn’t going to cut it if more than a couple of people want to watch your latest magnum opus. By plugging your iPhone into this Mili Pro LED projector, you can create a picture as big as 70 inches across. Although as with most of these tiny projectors, the limited light output means 30-40 inches is probably a better size if you want a reasonably bright picture.
The clamshell design folds open to reveal a built in dock for an iPhone or iPod Touch, or you can use its VGA and AV ports to connect external sources such as a DVD player or computer. There’s even a tiny pair of built in speakers to give you some audio. Resolution is 640×480, so don’t expect this to magically become some kind of spectacular home theater in your pocket.
The Mili Pro should sell for a little under $300 when it arrives in September.

LG To Offer Network Blu-ray Disc Players
June 2, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

I guess Blu-ray hasn’t really taken off according to Sony’s liking (as well as the other partners in the Blu-ray conglomerate), as it sure is taking its time compared to DVDs back in the day where the latter was released. Well, at least it is making inroads after a short but bitter battle with HD DVD, but it has been more than a year now since HD DVD was declared to have given up the fight, and yet not that many people are adopting Blu-ray players in their living rooms. This time round, LG Electronics aim to offer something different for their new range of Blu-ray players featuring NetCast Entertainment Access and Wi-Fi capabilities in the US.
Consumers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to extensive content-on-demand options for instant access to Roxio CinemaNow, Netflix and YouTube content. It does raise an interesting question though – back in the day where there were just a couple of TV channels, we were extremely hooked and would watch anything and everything. Fast forward to today and you have hundreds of channels, where you will still find someone sitting down on a couch, flipping channels and remarking, “There isn’t anything good to watch.” Ironic, isn’t it? Well, the LG BD370 and BD390 Network Blu-ray players were first unveiled at CES 2009, with the latter being the first-ever Blu-ray player to offer an interactive Download-to-Own and Pay-Per-View options, giving consumers the freedom to purchase content from Roxio CinemaNow at the click of the remote. It also boasts 1GB of internal memory to cater for BD Live functionality.
Both models will feature the following :-
- 1080p up-scaling for standard DVDs
- Dolby TrueHD surround sound
- DTS-HD Master Audio Essential
- USB 2.0 Media Host
- 1GB built-in memory (BD390)
- Wireless capability (BD390)
The BD370 and BD390 will retail for $299.95 and $399.95 respectively. Image from ibdcegypt.
Patriot Paintball Pistol Twin Pack – No Co2 Required
May 30, 2009 by tcgames · 2 Comments
What is your kid doing cooped up in the living room with the Xbox 360 throughout the entire summer? Banish that thought by introducing him to the great outdoors known as your backyard, and make the entire experience all the more interesting and interactive with the Patriot Paintball Gun Twin Pack.
Aim, fire, SPLAT! This serious adults-only set of paintball pistols is not for the faint hearted! Complete with safety goggles and two tubes of biodegradable water soluble paintballs so they wash off your clothes, this is quite possibly the most fun we’ve ever had with a couple of pint-sized pistols. Take a few pot shots at the wipe clean target or unleash a multicoloured messy attack on your enemies! The high powered paintball guns are pretty accurate and shoot well over long distances; just pull back the loading lever, push back into position, aim and fire! Your paintball guns require no batteries or CO2 making them very easy to use and lots and lots of fun! All you have to do is make sure your paintball pistols are locked and loaded with paintballs and you’re ready for a quick firing frenzy! Extra paintballs can be bought separately.
Who knows? Instead of playing a paintball simulation on the Xbox 360 itself, your teen might pick up a love for the sport and end up being a professional one day instead. The Patriot Paintball Gun Twin Pack retails for £29.95.
Samsung Bendable OLED Prototype
May 28, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment
We are all looking forward to the days when our computer screens will be as thin as a piece of paper, and it would appear that Samsung’s new ultra-thin flexible AMOLED screen is about ready to herald in that era.
Sure, this 6.5 inch flexible OLED that you see here is just a prototype, but you can at least see how flexible it is. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could spindle it. That is, roll it up like a kid who plays “telescope” with an ordinary piece of paper.
I can think of one application for this technology that I saw in a movie. In Red Mars, Val Kilmer has a mobile computer that must have a very flexible AMOLED screen. This screen took up a minimal amount of space, as he was able to retract it into its tiny case like a window blind.
I realize that many of you might not remember that 2000 movie, which was set in the year 2050. As I recall, the AMOLED was able to recognize Martian landmarks just by holding the screen up to them. I’m not certain if Samsung is working on that, but they will probably have it perfected by the mid-century. That isn’t a quote from the company, but it is a personal prediction.
In the meantime, let us all sit back and dream of classrooms of the future, where the teacher hands out a test on very flexible AMOLED paper. I would imagine that after the students were finished, he or she could stack them in a pile, put them in a machine, and they would have their grades in seconds.
Think of other uses for AMOLED displays while you are at it, and put them in the comments section.
Tricorder-like Device Detects Vital Signs From 40 Feet

Here’s the closest device yet to a Star Trek tricorder. Developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate, this 15″x8″x6″ device can check body temperature, heart rate and respiration of victims up to 40 feet away. This “Standoff Patient Triage Tool” (SPTT) could be particularly useful for detecting vital signs of disaster victims buried within tons of rubble.
Instead of spending the 3 to 5 minutes per person to just to determine how injured someone is, this can do that in 30 seconds. It works with frickin’ lasers, using Laser Doppler Vibrometry to determine vital signs. It will be rolled out for its first trials this fall, but it’s still under development, with a goal of eventually shrinking it into the size of a thin laptop.
Sure, it has a long way to go before it can detect obscure diseases such as the Star Trek tricorder pictured above right, but this is yet another confirmation that some Star Trek technology is on its way. The SPTT is off to a good start, with its creators hoping for commercialization sometime after the middle of next year.

May 23, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

Technology moves so quickly that many gadgets get tossed out and forgotten. However, gamers aren’t always so quick to toss aside old gear. After spending so much time bonding with and getting used to an old controller, using a new one is just never as good. There is the Classic Controller that was created for the Wii, but it’s still just not the same. So for those that still have their old Nintendo controllers, now you can put them to good use on your Wii.
This 3-in-1 adapter will allow for you to hook up the original NES, Nintendo 64 and Super Nintendo controllers to your Wii. For those of you that tossed out your old controller, you might want to be on the lookout for replacements. Komodo and Innex are supposed to be officially announcing the adapter at this year’s E3. It’s supposed to be priced right around $19.99 once it does come out. Of course, that won’t be until mid-June, which isn’t all that far off.

A Star Trek Clock Built From Micro Machines – Very Cool
For months you’ve been looking at that handmade Star Wars clock from Etsy, shaking with fury that Star Trek go shafted, again. But now, the tables have turned, haven’t they?
Priced at $110, the clock is comprised of 12 vintage Action Fleet Micro Machines, finished in “pewter-like” color. You can even request your favorite mix of ships for the order. (No one’s stopped you from getting smarmy and asking for 12 cloaked Klingon vessels…just don’t expect everyone you know to get the joke).
