Missing Multiplayer In Ghostbusters PC? – Atari Responds

June 18, 2009 by tcgames · 1 Comment

We suppose it’s a little ironic that the multiplayer for the PC version of Ghostbusters is little more than a phantom. That is to say that the PC version doesn’t actually have multiplayer at all, a fact our compatriots at Big Download reported earlier this week. Naturally, PC gamers probably have a few questions about this, chief among them being, "What gives?"

When asked by Big Download for a response, Atari sent along comments from Dan Irish, CEO of Threewave, the game’s multiplayer developer. According to Irish, Threewave had intended to create multiplayer for both consoles and the PC, but eventually decided to focus on the console versions in order to keep the quality bar as high as possible. According to Irish, if the company had attempted to develop both the PC and console versions simultaneously, "something would have to suffer."

Probably not the answer PC players were hoping for. Another question that has yet to be answered, according to Big Download, is whether Atari and Threewave have any plans to add multiplayer in the future.

Ivan Reitman Considers Directing ‘Ghostbusters III’ – Maybe

June 6, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

While cautioning that “all the casting and directing speculation is really just speculation,” Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman says he isn’t repelled by the notion of directing the third movie in the series, which has become one of the more talked about sequels on the horizon.

In an interview with MTV, Reitman insists, “I’ve never ruled [directing it] out,” adding, “I certainly was responsible in every capacity for the first two movies so I certainly wouldn’t wander away from the third one — especially if it’s something we all think is worth doing.”

The “we all” means Reitman and the original cast of Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and Dan Aykroyd, and the they in his “we all” are all committed to the project. So that’s got to be worth something. The only thing is, according to both Ramis and Aykoryd, the old Ghostbusters will be window dressing in a film featuring a new cast.

Dan Aykroyd Talks Ghostbusters 3 – Lots Of Good Stuff

April 14, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

GhostbustersSigourney Weaver may still be on the fence about committing to “Ghostbusters 3,” despite Harold Ramis’ confidence that “everybody” from the films’ original cast “said they’d do it.” Series star and writer Dan Aykroyd, meanwhile, appeared hopeful that Weaver would return, reiterating her hesitation to sign on, but he also let slip some possible spoilers for the new film, including the nature of the franchise’s next wave of Proton Pack wearers.

“When we do the ‘Ghostbusters 3? movie, hopefully, Sigourney will be in it,” Aykroyd told a group of reporters at a round-table interview. “I know we’ll make that happen. But there will be a whole new generation that has to be trained, and that whole new generation will be led by an individual who you’ll all love when you meet him but I’m not going to tell you anything yet.”

Ramis said that he and his fellow stars might be acting as “mentors or advisers” to the new cast, and that capacity may be coming in to focus now, given Aykroyd’s choice of words. In fact, the new sequel may potentially introduce a whole new school of Ghostbusters.

“They’ll be lots of cadets, boys and girls, who’ll be learning how to use the psychotron, the accelerators and all the new stuff, the neuron splitter, which is going to be the interplaner, interceptor and all these great tools that they’re going to have, to flip from dimension to dimension,” Aykroyd explained.

The word “cadets” would imply some sort of “academy” for the newbies to be trained in. Whether that was a carefully chosen word or casual summary of the new cast will have to remain to be seen, but it sounds like any new additions to the Ghostbusters universe can look forward to some Ghostbusting boot camp.

What actors would you like to see join the Ghostbusters’ ranks as new cadets? Do you want to see Sigourney Weaver come back for “Ghostbusters 3?? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Ghostbusters 3 To Begin Shooting Fall 2009?…Maybe?

ghostbusters

Last we heard, Office scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitski were hard at work trying to pen a new Ghostbusters movie. We haven’t really heard much about the project since last year when those details were revealed, and we just assumed that they couldn’t make the script work.

Well it appears that the project is still moving forward and according to Dan Aykroyd, who appeared in Boston this weekend for the opening of a new House of Blues, they “hope to be in production by late fall 2009?. That’s an exact quote from the Boston Globe (via: AICN).

I’m not sure if “Hope” means that they are onto something or if that was just the targeted date when Gene and Lee began scripting, but I’m sure you guys are going to have something to say about this in the comments.
