Ed Norton Says ‘Hulk’ Sequel Not Happening

March 14, 2010 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

We interviewed Edward Norton at SXSW for the Tim Blake Nelson directed Leaves of Grass, in which he plays straight-laced philosophy professor Bill, and then his redneck, pot growing twin brother Brady. It’s a great movie, and Brady deserve to stand alongside lovable stoners like Jeff Lebowski and Spiccoli. Look for a review later.

Anyhow, you can read the full interview with Norton and Tim Blake Nelson soon, but in the meantime, he did give us a nugget of info on The Incredible Hulk sequel, which he and Tim Blake Nelson were both attached to. As in, is it happening?

"I don’t think so. I think it has got more to do with what Marvel is doing. I get the sense they have this grand vision of unspooling a lot of their characters and then starting to put them together. I think they can only do so many at a time. Obviously, they are doing Iron Man 2 and then getting some of the new ones out."

Which isn’t great news, considering how much I enjoyed The Incredible Hulk. How are they going to make an Avengers movie without the Hulk? Me smash.

Tim Roth Is Signed For More ‘Hulk’ Films

January 6, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

Tim Roth, who played Abomination in The Incredible Hulk, told a group of reporters that he is signed for sequels and open to returning. At the end of their climactic battle in New York City, Hulk very decidedly let Abomination live to be captured.

“Yeah, they’ve got me for three,” Roth said in a group interview on Monday, Jan. 5, in Culver City, Calif., on the set of his new Fox drama Lie to Me. “If we do one,” he added.

A script for a sequel is still in the works, but Roth said that if director Louis Leterrier remains with the franchise, he is likely to be happy with whatever role he gives Abomination.

“I liked working with Louis very much, so if he’s up to anything, I’ll probably jump in with him,” Roth said.

Roth’s commitment to Lie to Me still leaves him open to make films during the hiatuses, as he already has. “Between the pilot and when we started, I did one, and then in the hiatus I’m going to do one as well,” he said. “So I’ll be in and out of film. Then they’ll let us know at some point in February if we’re going to carry on doing this.”

Gale Anne Hurd Wants To Keep The Hulk Movie Franchise Alive

October 24, 2008 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

Gale Anne Hurd - ProducerCompare 2003′s “Hulk” with the new-to-DVD “The Incredible Hulk,” and you’ll find one common creative element: Gale Anne Hurd.

Hurd, the super-producer behind the “Terminator” and “Punisher” franchises, fell in love with the big green guy as a child, purchased the rights to him in the early ’90s while Marvel was in disarray and continues to cherish him as the most powerful of all superhero stories. And now that the character is relaunched, Hurd has big plans for the years ahead.

“When girls are growing up, they’re the ones who are picked on,” she said. “I had an older brother, and there’s no way that you could ever really fight back. So, to me, the Hulk was wish fulfillment. [My family] had a little cabin, and in the summers we’d go up there. It didn’t have running water and it didn’t have electricity, but the big thing there was a market we would go to before we went up to our cabin, and they sold ‘Spider-Man,’ ‘Incredible Hulk’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ [comics].

“I always bought them out,” the now-53-year-old Hollywood power player laughed. “That was my treat for the summer.”

This past June, Hurd returned the favor by giving audiences a summer treat with “The Incredible Hulk,” a film that established Edward Norton as the new Dr. Bruce Banner. And although Marvel Studio’s president of production recently told us that Hulk’s future is somewhat uncertain, Hurd revealed that she has every intention of creating an “Incredible Hulk 2″ and that Norton is signed on to once again get angry.
