Bridget Regan Talks ‘ Legend Of The Seeker’

November 3, 2008 by tcgames · 1 Comment

Bridget ReganBridget Regan, star of the new syndicated fantasy show Legend of the Seeker, told SCI FI Wire the universe on view in the show is at once fantastical but familiar.

The show, which is executive-produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, is based on Wizard’s First Rule, the first novel in the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. Regan plays Kahlan, a woman with tremendous magical power who loves and protects–but can’t be with–Richard (Craig Horner), the prophesied Seeker of the title. It is Richard’s destiny to save his people from Darken Rahl (Craig Parker), a dangerous adversary who plans to unleash evil on the land as part of his quest for power.

“The world is not the world that we know,” Regan said in an interview. “It’s a world of magic, and there are different rules, because different things exist, different creatures and laws of who has what power and on and on. For example, I have a magical power. I can touch someone, basically take their entire soul, and make that person be completely in love with me. They’ll do anything I say. So it’s almost like I can steal people’s souls.”

Still, Regan hastened to add, Legend of the Seeker explores humans emotions and desires, as well as strengths and weaknesses. “So, in that sense, it is very similar to what we know, because these characters want love and want to be loved, and some of them desire to make the world a better place than it is,” she said. “I find it a world you can really escape into because it is so different.”

Even the look of the series is unique. “They’ve really shot the show so beautifully that it doesn’t look like anything on television that I know of,” Regan said. “They point the camera in any direction when we’re outside, and it’s just gorgeous, because it’s New Zealand. It’s quite untouched, the woods, and some of it is overgrown. It looks like the art department put moss perfectly on the bottom of every tree, but it’s just there.” Legend of the Seeker airs now in syndication; check local schedules.
