Nintendo 3DS Gets Netflix Update

July 14, 2011 by admin · Leave a Comment

Since Nintendo’s 3DS launched back in March, we’ve been hanging on by a thread, counting the minutes until this week’s eShop update. And no, it’s not just because Extreme Hangman 2 is finally dropping on DSiWare: Netflix’s streaming video application will be available on 3DS as well. Finally a chance to bring Agent Cooper on the go and make those smug short-form video users in Europe and Japan quit their braggin’!

Nintendo revealed as much with an early announcement of its weekly eShop, DSi, and Wii Shop updates, also detailing several games that will be available for purchase across the Wii, DSi, and 3DS. We’re particularly fond of the Virtual Console Game & Watch Gallery coming to 3DS, but fans of super old-school sports games may be more excited to hear about Baseball being this week’s other retro re-release.

The Black Eyed Peas Experience for Kinect and Wii

June 27, 2011 by admin · Leave a Comment

The game of the year is nearly here, and it’s pumpin’ to get you jumpin’ and rockin’ to get you floppin’ all over your living room floor, Fergie-style. The Black Eyed Peas Experience has been announced for Xbox 360 (using Kinect, naturally) and Wii with a new promo video, and we think it’s safe to say it blows those dinky Modern Warfare 3 trailers out of the water.

The Black Eyed Peas are the second Experience installment, following Michael Jackson, because they’re totally on the same level of pop iconhood. Ubisoft is set to release The Black Eyed Peas Experience "soon," but you can check out the trailer right now, after the jump.

Nintendo: Wii Fit Plus Announcement Next Week?

Wii Fit Plus

You guys down with Wii Fit or what? Loose talk around the internet seems to indicate that we’ll all be hearing about something called Wii Fit Plus at E3 next week.

Back in April, Nintendo apparently filed a Japanese patent for Wii Fit Plus along with the above logo. Certain financial analysts are speculating that the game will be targeted towards existing Wii Fit users and will be sold both as a standalone title and as part of a bundle — presumably with the Balance Board.

I’d say it all makes sense. There aren’t a huge amount of exercises in Wii Fit and there hasn’t been any downloadable content as far as being able to purchase new exercises, so some sort of expansion pack that adds a bunch of new strength training, yoga poses, and mini games seems perfectly logical.

Also, stay tuned for our upcoming Fitness Week here at CrunchGear. I’ll be comparing Wii Fit to EA SPORTS Active for those of you trying to decide on a fitness game for the Wii.

Yamato Creator To Post Original Manga On WiiWare Download Service

The digitial distribution company Suncorp has announced that manga and anime pioneer Leiji Matsumoto (Space Battleship Yamato, Galaxy Express 999, Space Pirate Captain Harlock) is starting an original online comic project. Matsumoto’s unnamed new work will appear on the Nintendo Wii game console’s WiiWare download service in Japan this summer or later.

Although Suncorp has not officially announced overseas plans, the announcements notes that Matsumoto’s previous works have garnered fans all over the world with translated releases, and that the new work “is aimed at his global fans.” The announcement also does not state Matsumoto’s specific plans after the manga is created, although it does note that the WiiWare service is expected to also distribute games, anime, character goods, and other media crossovers.
