Clash Of The Titans Teaser Trailer Online
November 11, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment
Warner Bros has released the first teaser trailer for Louis Leterrier’s remake of Clash of the Titans. With speed ramp, heavy guitar riffs, and fast paced edits, this definitely isn’t “your father’s Clash of the Titans”. And I’m not really a fan of the “Titans will Clash” slogan. I know a lot of you will probably be impressed by this trailer, calling it “bad ass”. But for me, much of the low-fi magic that made the original special appears to be missing from this version, instead replaced with loads of CG and Lord of the Rings-style flyby shots. It could just be the “lets appeal to the mainstream Mountain Dew drinkers” edit. Who knows what the actual film will look like… We’ll see. Watch the trailer for yourself after the jump. And leave your thoughts in the comments below. I look forward to a lot of you explaining why I’m wrong. Bring it on…

In “Clash of the Titans,” the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny. Read more
Louis Leterrier’s ‘Clash of the Titans’ Begins Production

Warner Bros Pictures has issued an official press release announcing the beginning of principal photography on Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans. I’ve included the whole press release after the jump, and it is actually worth reading because it includes a detailed cast and crew breakdown, and plot synopsis. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 26th 2010.
Principal photography began Monday on Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ epic action adventure Clash of the Titans, being directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk). The film stars Sam Worthington (upcoming Terminator Salvation and Avatar) and Academy Award® nominees Liam Neeson (Taken, Schindler’s List) and Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films, The English Patient).

Is Bryan Singer’s “Logan’s Run” Remake Still Happening?

Slice Of Scifi has some news regarding Bryan Singer’s remake of Logan’s Run. I loved the books, hated the movie, and, oh yes…there was a tv series too…
A couple of years ago, director Bryan Singer was ready to update the 70’s sci-fi film, “Logan’s Run.”
However, it appears the project has stalled a bit with Singer taking on variety of other projects.
So, will we see his version of “Run” any time soon?
“At the moment, I haven’t decided. I really don’t know,” Singer told the Los Angeles Times. “I’m taking a genuine break. The last four years have been really busy with the miniseries, the TV and the movies. I’m taking a few months to collect myself and figure out what I’m going to do in that regard. We did a lot of development on that movie and a lot of work. To start it up again, I wouldn’t start it up again without a full commitment. So I have decisions to make. Right now, that’s just hanging around.”
The Los Angeles Times followed up with producer Joel Silver, who was working on the project as well. Right now, there appears to be no hurry to get a remake of “Run” off the ground and up to speed.
So, it looks like you if want to see “Logan’s Run” you’ll have to dust off that DVD copy…

Jaden Smith’s ‘Karate Kid’ Remake Casts Jackie Chan As Mr. Miyagi
January 14, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment
You have to hand it to the producers remaking “The Karate Kid.” If there’s a way to replace the gentle, iconic Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi, it’s to cast bigger and more manic — and that’s just what they’ve done. According to Variety, “Rush Hour” star Jackie Chan is in final negotiations to train Jaden Smith in the delicate art of the crane kick.
They’ve also hired a director. Harald Zwart (”The Pink Panther 2’) will direct the film. The film will begin shooting early this summer in Beijing, and will obviously keep the original character names as well as the storyline.
The casting of Chan (as well as the Beijing location) really does indicate what big and flashy direction the remake intends to go in. While the original wasn’t Shakespeare, it’s charm was really its 80s simplicity — and it’s that angle that managed to earn Pat Morita a Best Supporting Actor nomination in 1985. (Hey, the Academy was really big fans of the “wax on, wax off” philosophy.)
I can’t say I ever held out hope for this remake, but with all due respect to the Smiths and to Chan, every announcement from its production just stresseshow silly this project really is.
MTV readers, am I wrong — do you think The Karate Kid remake is a fantastic idea, particularly now that Chan has come aboard? Or do you think the 80s classic needs to be left alone?

Phillip Noyce Developing ‘Captain Blood’ Remake
July 24, 2008 by tcgames · Leave a Comment
It looks like one of my favorite Errol Flynn movies is going to be remade. In fact, I just listened to the old time radio version by the Lux Radio Theater (February 1937) the other day.
Phillip Noyce has come onboard to develop a remake of the classic swashbuckler “Captain Blood” for Warner Bros. with an eye toward directing.
Warner is developing “Captain Blood” as a possible U.K./Australian co-production. Bill Gerber is producing. Read more
