HTC Edge – A Quad-Core Smartphone

November 8, 2011 by admin · Leave a Comment

Color us skeptical on this one, but rumors are coming down the pipeline about an HTC phone called the Edge. It’s supposedly going to be the first Tegra 3-powered smartphone.

According to Pocketnow, the device will supposedly offer a quad-core 1.5GHz CPU, 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 1GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2 lens and Beats Audio. Curiously, no LTE capability was mentioned specifically, though 21Mbps HSPA+ appears to be good to go, and there’s a slight possibility of Sense 4.0 being included — which given its proposed launch window of late Q1 / early Q2 2012, wouldn’t be a huge surprise.

We’d love to start seeing more quad-core goodness headed our way, so we’re definitely keeping our fingers crossed to see a lot more of the above show up at CES and MWC.

Froyo Coming To Samsung Galaxy S September 23rd – Maybe

September 15, 2010 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

Android Spin, based on a memo from within the Finland branch of Samsung’s repair department, is reporting Android’s Froyo will be available for the Galaxy S i9000 on the 23rd of September.

“definitely recieving new software for reparing froyo builds on the 22nd of September with the build expected to be released on the 23rd”

The Samsung Galaxy S is already one of the quickest smartphones available and with the addition of Android’s Froyo and Adobe Flash 10.1 it will be the smartphone to beat. The info at this point is just a rumor but it appears the update would be only for the Galaxy S i9000 not any of the US variants. One would think however if the Euro version is getting the update on the 23rd the US variants would be updated soon there after. Cross your fingers because it would sure be nice to see the Galaxy S with Android 2.2 Froyo. Hopefully the Droid X won’t be too far behind in the Adroid 2.2 Froyo update sweepstakes.

Mobile device chipmaker Qualcomm will launch a more powerful mobile processor in Q1 2011. The upcoming 1.5GHz Snapdragon CPU will offer a 50% jump in processor speed over today’s 1GHz smartphone processors.

The new processor will provide high-quality multimedia performance with 3D graphics, HD video, built-in GPS and more. A 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon will also help Android regain an edge in the high-end against Apple’s iPhone 4, which is now on par or ahead of most Android devices with its custom-designed but single-core A4 chip. March 30, 2009 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

I think that 2009 has already started to be the year of the smartphone.  There are going to be so many fast and furious changes in the coming months that by the end of the year the market will be completely changed…

Do you want a Smartphone with a bit more style? The LG GD900 is a “7.2Mbps HSDPA slider with world’s first transparent glass (not plastic as originally assumed) keypad will be functional.” Continue reading for one more picture.

We know that the GD900 features vibrational haptic feedback and that the transparent keypad seems to double as a touch-sensitive mouse pad (like that on your laptop) when surfing the internet or navigating the UI.
