‘John Carter’ Trailer Arrives!!

The John Carter trailer is here!  Check it out below…

When I was 12 years old (1976 I think heh), I was in a store somewhere and passed by a bookstand and stopped dead in my tracks.  On the rack was Swords of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs (8th in the series).  The cover immediately took me to that ancient planet and I haven’t looked back since.

On March 9th, 2012, Disney will release John Carter, the film version of Burroughs’ creation.

If the following trailer is any indication, this film will be well worth the wait.  I can’t wait for it.  I think I’ve read the entire series of Mars books probably a dozen times or so since I first saw that book on the stand and have been waiting for a film treatment for about that long as well.

Enjoy the trailer after the break and please comment and let me know what you think. Read more

Taylor Kitsch & Thomas Haden Church Joining ‘John Carter of Mars’ Cast?

Suddenly the John Carter of Mars news is flowing like crazy. Thomas Haden Church said on Reel Talk with Jeffrey Lyons that he’d be joining the film, in what he calls a ‘very dramatic role’. He’ll work alongside Taylor Kitsch (as John Carter) and Lynn Collins (as Dejah Thoris, heir to the Martian kingdom). Andrew Stanton will make his live-action directing debut with the film, which is written by Stanton and Mark Andrews, with additional recent work by Michael Chabon.

The actor said specifically that he was “probably going to do a huge science fiction drama at Disney called John Carter of Mars.” We’ve wondered exactly where on the Disney/Pixar line this project would fall, as it hasn’t been anywhere on Pixar’s announced slate. Increasingly, as reports of impending work in Utah have come out, it seems that this is primarily a Disney picture, even if it has Pixar talent. (Stanton and Andrews and, since we still understand that it will feature animation, possibly some other Pixar staff?) Work is set to begin in Utah in November, and Haden Church said that he’d be working on the film in the spring, so that gives some idea of the production timeline.

First Look: Taylor Kitsch as Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine

November 30, 2008 by tcgames · Leave a Comment

Empire Magazine has the first official photo of Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch as Gambit in Gavin Hood’s Wolverine.

Attendees at Comic Con were lucky to see an early preview of the film which featured Gambit in action. I still think Lost star Josh Halloway would have been a better fit for the character.

Gambit first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #266 in August 1990. Created by writer Chris Claremont and artists Jim Lee and Mike Collins, Gambit is skilled in card throwing, hand-to-hand combat, the use of a b?, and possesses the ability to manipulate kinetic energy. A professional thief and self described ladies man, the character has had a longtime on and off again romantic fling with Rogue.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be the character’s first appearance in a movie. The fan favorite has appeared in previous television cartoons and video game releases. The character was supposed to make a small appearance during the prison convoy scene of X-Men: The Last Stand, but Marvel decided the role was too small for the character. James Franco supposedly auditioned for the part.

The Wolverine movie trailer will be attached exclusively to The Day The Earth Stood Still.
